What kind of puppy are you?

I do not know why I cannot make HTML text work in my journal. It's quite vexing.
Edited to delete non-functional HTML text & insert functional identical text (!)

Are you in "HTML" text mode--as in on the tab above your text, does it say html, or "rich text"? It's kinda a pita, but if you're in html, there are 2 ways to do it...

In html mode, you should just be able to paste it straight up. If not, just click on the embed media tag, and then paste it in, and click ok...

If you're in rich text, you're gonna have to do a lot more work. I always post in html text, it's a lot easier. In rich text, you have to click on the little disc, which is the "embed media" icon. You paste, and then it should show up just fine...It doesn't always work, though. A lot of people complain that it doesn't work.

How are you trying to post this? See if any of this works for you. You should just be able to go straight into this post and edit it to work...

Thanks for the tech tip. I was in fact in Rich Text mode, and switched to HTML, embedded the media, and all was hunky dory.

Except....

I got that huge white space in my post, and I don't know why, and I tried getting italics the way I've seen my DH do it, and all I got was what I typed. That is, a bunch of i's in brackets and ordinary text. ::sigh:: The advantage of being in Rich Text is that italicizing is easy, you just click on the icon. But I want to be able to insert photos regularly, so I've got to get used to HTML....

More help, please?

lol--for italics and bold, etc...here's the way to do it, without the spaces...

< i > to start it (no spaces between the brackets, but you have to be in html mode!)
and to end, use < / i >

bold is the same, just use a "b" instead of an "i"

and for strike out, use an "s" to strike out the text you want to strike out, so let's say I want to be sarcastic and say

those freakin assholes in the petstore those lovely employees who work at the petstore

you use it that way to strike out the text, but people can still see what you originally wrote...

There's a lot of little hints like that you can find in the faq's, or you can just ask me cuz I learned a lot by trial and error...if you want to check out something you can always preview it, too, sometimes I do just to check, cuz some things actually do look better in rich text than in html, it's just few and far between...I much prefer html...

See what you can do with that! <3

Hmm...huge white space? I'll have to look and see what it is. I may not be able to to tell you without access to your account, cuz it may be part of what was embedded...? Not really sure. I may be able to tell based on what I see, but may not. I'll look and see what I can try to figure out. It may have something to do with the way the text copied...I'll let you know if I can come up with something!
