My mom had her first two kids in the hospital and my youngest sister at home; she really wished she had done all three at home.

I want to see that, if it ever makes it to our theatre...

The cesarean rates are totally horrifying to me, and yet I keep hearing about people who'd much rather schedule a debilitating surgery than wait to see what their body can do.

I don't think I'm as comfortable with a homebirth, personally (but I'm kinda OCD about my home), but I love that more and more people are doing it, and going on to train as doulas. Hopefully the trend will reverse soon.

One of our local hospitals is pretty good about childbirth; it's more of a birthing center, with comfier rooms and lactation consultants. You can labor in water, you're encouraged to room in with your newborn, etc. My OB practice has midwives as well as doctors. I thought that was a good compromise.

well, the film is coming out on netflix in february, so you could always rent it when that happens. however, ricki lake and the other gal who was the filmmaker (who were doing a q&a at the event last night. go ricki!! haha!) were like, there's a 10-15k long waiting list on netflix for the film, so...hahha. also, i think it might be available for purchase at some point, if it isn't already ( ... )

good points, i wanna see that film! you should talk to rigel's mom...she just became certified as a midwife and she's very knowledgeable on home birth as an option.

How on earth did i miss that you're pregnant?! Congrats!
And yay for home births! If we ever get around to knocking me up it's probably the way we'll go. We're just too far from the nearest birth center. Plus, our bathtub is way big enough. =)
