[For anyone interested, there are massive pawprints circling the village.  And you may notice that some of the older prints actually trail through the village, perhaps when no one is around at that point.

But should you follow the fresh trail, you'll find Moro roaming, stalking, watching luceti from uphill, her predatory eyes glaring hatefully at ( Read more... )

A higher god than you, in other words.

I am a mere guardian god, made to slaughter demons. And at the later years of my life, humans, as they turned their disgusting guns against the forest.

A creature of only wrath, then?

Trust a human to make things so black and white.

Not quite. I'm just trying to get a better picture. You say you were made to defend the forest and kill those who harm it, even going so far as to adopt a new forest when you're displaced. Feel free to tell me where it goes deeper than that.

My wrath and hatred has been earned by the humans. Otherwise, it is merely a force of balance. Lethal, naturally, but my purpose was originally to slaughter demons.

Humans became such a threat that I had to begin tearing them asunder, and found them rather distasteful, how even though I will spare the innocent, they will attack me for delivering punishment on the guilty.

Ah, but humans are selfish creatures. They're rather bad at grasping concepts like "the bigger picture", and will band together against any enemy they perceive as being more different than the differences amongst themselves.

Their folly will be their undoing when they manage to behead the Forest Spirit.

What would happen then?

The Forest Spirit, the god of life itself, would take away its blessing.

Everything would die?

Was that truly unclear?

Well, it could have been that only humans would die, or only everything within the forest. On the other hand, it could have meant that everything would cease to exist; although that sounds like it's a bit far out of the domain of a god of life and death. But one can never assume such things, hee hee.

And tell me, boy, why should I not kill you merely for daring to approach me?

Have I done you any harm?
