My personal observation, especially in a kennel with younger hashers is that people who are DTF tend to wear it like a football mascot, and don't are surprised with anything less than the Brick Of Subtlety. So, I think it might just be people's context about how they typically know you. I *certainly* don't think it's an age or appearance thing. You're in better shape than many people 15 years younger.
