I'm such a fatass

So I think I've mentioned wanting to start running and stuff before. It was one of the resolutions. Well, I've hit 140lbs, and my oldest munchkin has reached 120. This is not healthy for either of us. She's 13 and 5'1" and taking meds that cause weight gain. I'm 5'4" and have absolutely no excuse aside from the fact that I like to eat and I don't ( Read more... )

Good luck with the exercise regimen! I've been struggling to lose the 10-15 pounds I gained since starting grad school (which was on top of the chub that slowly developed post-college). I'm 5'7" and around 160 now, when I've weighed as little as 125 in the past. 125 was pretty emaciated, but I'd like to be back in the 140s and fit into my old pants. I know part of the problem was getting home at 2:00 PM most days last semester and snacking before dinner while sitting around on my ass. These days I'm away from home more and bring my own healthy lunch to school rather than eating greasy cafeteria food. And going to the gym at least 3 times a week for cardio, yoga classes, and strength training.

I really like the idea of SparkPeople but I find it annoying to enter in everything I eat, since most of it is home cooked and you have to type up all the ingredients and amounts. It is eye-opening when I think about how many empty calories are in a few beers, though.

I've found that the annoying food entry thing keeps me honest. Especially when my lead worker insists on having a bowl of fun sized bars on her desk, I think about having to enter that into my list for the day so I avoid them.

But the weekend I'm allowed to eat yummy stuff. Tonight after dinner I'm gonna be all over a bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream (1 scoop, 1/2 fat type, not all that bad).
