I very rarely ask people to do anything, and even less often do I do it here. Today I'm asking every registered voter in California to please vote against Proposition 8 on November 4th. Please. Don't be evil. Don't impose your idea of religion on the rest of the state. If you believe that marriage is a religious institution, then how can you force ( Read more... )

Sweetie, you have just said what I've been trying to say for a while... And I'm in full agreement; if it's a religious view it shouldn't be imposed on all citizens, if it's secular what's the big deal?

Oh yes, I agree.

Sadly, with the Repubs in office, that'll never happen. What we need is something like the Babel Fish... much needed to disprove the existence of God. The argument goes like this:

God: I fail to prove I exist, for proof denies faith, and without faith, I am nothing.
Man: Oh, but the babel fish is a dead giveaway. It proves you do exist, and therefore you don't.
God: I hadn't thought of that. *vanishes in a puff of logic*
Man: Oh that was easy. *goes on to prove that black=white and gets killed at the next zebra crossing...*

Okay, so that's hitchhikers guide for you... But still. My thoughts exactly. The separation *needs* to run both ways.

Incidentally, I'm a Lutheran who believes that Carlin put it best when he said something to the effect of, "If these churches want to get involved in public policy, make them pay some taxes and pay the cost of admission like everyone else."
