Room 325, Thursday Afternoon

Mar 25, 2010 20:49

He'd sent Francine a message the moment the idea struck; it was something for Support, after all, and Arthur wasn't going to flaunt around someone else's successes. There was little he could do outside right now, though-- at best, he could set off on a mission to chase the creatures down to their source later on ( Read more... )

Merlin knocked on the door, balancing... a few books in the other hand. It was an accident waiting to happen, you see. "I can't seem to find anything about evil fog."

"Hm?"

Arthur looked up, and found... a towering stack of books talking to him. "...Merlin, put that down before you injure someone."

"I haven't dropped any yet!"

"Which means you're going to," Arthur pointed out. "Come in, put them down."

Unsurprisingly to maybe anyone who had ever met her, Kennedy was chomping at the bit for something to do, or more specifically something to do that didn't involve hitting her friends (and finding out they were demons, but that part was applicable even outside of this situation) because you couldn't hit fog, damn it. A couple of further calls to her Watcher hadn't dug up anything even remotely useful to the situation, and that contributed to her, uh, mood.

She could have replied to the text, but actually barging over to Arthur's room burned some of that restless energy, so there she was, pounding on the door.

The door was open, but what with someone who wasn't one of his nearest-and-dearest pounding on it, Arthur couldn't find it in him to do anything but tell her, "Enter," like she was requesting an audience.

You'd think that would've been hammered out of him after a year and a half of Fandom, but you'd be wrong.

Nah, that actually made it easier. It annoyed Kennedy just enough to not breeze in like she had every right to be there, even though if you asked her, she did.

"So, Reserves leader guy," she started without so much as a hello, "do we have anything that's starting to look plan-shaped?" She did not in any way mean to imply she was sick of not having anything to hit, but it was evident anyway.

Hey, Arthur had invented the 'every-right-to-be-here' breeze. She'd best pay her respects in that regard.

"Our plan is to see if the researchers come up with something," Arthur said, picking up on the conversation like he did have every right to comment upon it, thank you for recognizing that fact, Kennedy, you would've looked very silly if you hadn't. "There's very little point in spending all of our time hunting these creatures down in the fog when the fog is our main problem, so barring that, I'd very much like to know wherever it is these creatures are holing up."

He rolled his shoulder to loosen it up. "I'd also like to keep them from getting onto the school grounds," he continued, because he had sensed that restlessness, thanks. "So if you have the time, find a companion, preferably someone with powers, get some masks and patrol the grounds. Take your pick."

Going monster fighting. Taking back-up and gas mask. Will check in when back.

You'd almost think she wanted to give him a migraine.

... She was certainly succeeding.

Arthur rubbed his forehead.

Who is your back-up?

Superhero! Blue Beetle. Fought gremlins with him. He flies, has armor, superweapons!

... the equivalent of, 'hey, I'm going cruising for trouble with the guy who's got a really wicked motorcycle', if you're from Gotham.

You're sure the gas mask is secure?

Text message in reply to that voicemail

--I'll see what I can find, and you'd have to get in line behind me.--

Followed maybe half an hour later by

--Mission accomplished.--

And then

--The masks, not Katchoo on the roof.--

Where is she right now, at that?

All these women: set on giving him a headache.

Good.

Beat.

A lot of these robot children seem to be dying this week. How are the rest of the students?
