[An envelope is found here, taped to the box, with URGENT on it.]

The Doctor,

Hear you're gonna make a move. Good. Listen, you've got to get rid of them both, all right? Both or nothing. If they're out of the picture, this all stops now. If you can't get rid of both then it continues. That's how the game works this time.

I talked to Death. He can't do anything about it. But he said he's sorry and he's sorry for what's going to happen. No idea what he meant and he wouldn't talk about it more.

One more thing I managed to get out for you. It's about the black hole. A friend of mine said to keep an eye on it for 'aftershocks.'

Best I can do for now. Do what you can, all right? You guys are the ones that can win this.

Shay

[A small red postcard appears in the mail. The text printed on it is black.]

Two atoms are walking down the street and they run into each other.

One says to the other, "Are you all right?"

"No, I lost an electron."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I'm positive."

[The card is signed with a big A that looks vaguely like the anarchy symbol.]

[a folded-up sheet of paper, labelled "Doctor" on the outside, can be found in his mailbox]

Hiya Doctor,

I've been trying to run into you, but hopefully this works just as well. I just wanted to tell you I talked to Irving. He fixed everything, and I remember now. We talked about it, too. I know the Plane really messed everybody up then. So don't worry, all right? And thanks for your help.

So you know, I'm going home for a bit. I know you think I'm running, but it's not like that. There isn't anything I can do here right now. On Gondovan, we've just got a new group of refugees arriving from Katsovania II, so there is something I can do there. I'll be back soon in case anything does happen.

See ya!
Ollie

[A slightly chewed-up looking piece of paper with some blue goop staining one corner has been placed in the mailbox.]

Doctor, when you get this, I need your help with this wee device I found.

[the blue goop is curious and strangely familiar (as well as subject of a lab test once he's done with the note), and he soon sends a reply on a scrap of white paper, half of the British PM's seal is visible on one side]

Oh, did you now? What sort of device? Actually, show me on the Plane. Meet me in the ballroom.
