fic: Possession (Five/Master)

Apr 27, 2008 23:08

Yep, Five/Master! This is my new obsession (don't worry, the other obsessions have just had to budge up a bit, but there's still plenty of room for them all!)

This is a bit of an experiment, but the beautiful eryaforsythe wrote this fantastic fic earlier today, just cos I asked her to, and it inspired me to give it a go. Because I genuinely don't think ( Read more... )

Probably not the place to admit that Five is my second least favourite Doctor.

This is just so in character, how the Master baits Five into opening his mind to him. Hoisted by his own curiousity, empathy and perviness.

Thank you!

See, I like emoty-Docs, which I suppose is why I like Dave better than Chris. ♥ to you for reading this anyway!

He is perving a bit, isn't he? Only goes delving when he realises Adric might have been enjoying himself! Probably jealous!

Thanks, Drayce. :D

You don't think 9 is "emoty"?

I like that element in the Doctors of "I'm really a decent sort of chap but I'll kill you if you leave me no choice and then have tea."

5 always seemed to me like the boy your mother always hoped you'd marry -- not enough crazy and/or killer instinct which 10 has for instance -- and 6, my absolutely least favourite just doesn't deliver on any front. When Fi got me to write Beevers!master/6 I was really just as squicked by 6! TMI?

Sorry... Rambling. Anyway, I did enjoy the story. This is really a pairing for me that wouldn't be an automatic read, but I'd read them again if *you* were writing them. ♥

He tends (and this is a generalisation, even typing this I can think of a list of contradictory examples, moreover it is no criticism whatsoever) to be more subtle in the way he conveys emotion. He's certainly not emotionless.

You're spot on about Ten's killer insinct - an aspect that I'm hugely enjoying watching them develop. I get the impression that it's DT-led, in that the writers watch him doing dark so well and can't resist writing to that.

Whether Five was too 'nice' - oh I dunno. He's not menacing, especially - but careful watching leaves me with the feeling that this was poor directing. Peter Davison, if you watch him closely (and I do!) is putting all sorts of nuances into the part that just slide past on a casual viewing because nothing is made of them - moments which would be full-screen close-ups in the DT era just happen, and the camera moves off to stare at the set or whatever baddie happens to catch its eye. It's almost autistic in its lack of focus, sometimes.

Ooh, that sent shivery shivers down my spine. I don't know these two very well, but it was a delight to read as always, BK. :)

I feel so privileged that I have friends who are so lovely that they'll read my stuff even when they're not into the pairing. Thank you. ♥

YUM!

I love you.

You give me a perfect prompt, a wonderful rec and now a simply gorgeous fic!

Thank you!

Absolutely brilliant.

This:

“I own you. Body and soul, forever. You’re mine now.”

and this:

He crouched next to the kneeling Doctor, forced his head upwards, leant in to meet the parted lips with his own - the barest, lightest brush of contact, nevertheless it seared into the Doctor like a brand, wrenching from him a choked, sobbing breath.?

You own my soul.

Yes.

Oooh - you have Ainley!Master down perfectly - and Five's reaction was just spot on, as well, his horror and fear blending with a sort of strange, almost careless openness that just leaves him so vulnerable... Umm... I hope that made sense...

And the idea of The Master and Adric - much as I hated the boy at times, that really is disturbing, and you've handled it very well.

Thank you - it's quite terrifying attempting characters for the first time. I'm delighted that they worked for you.

(Adric is a 100% annoying little tyke. The opportunity to cause him gratuitous suffering was just too good to pass up! XD )
