While the rest of the world is reading Harry P., I am reading Orhan Pamuk's Snow. Oh I love him! I love him as much as Italo Calvino and that's impossible! I love him more than Julian Barnes!! I love him more than Umberto Eco! What? What? Is he my favorite author? I don't know.

I think "If On A Winter's Night A Traveler" is essential improvisor reading but I'm too shy to insist on it.

Oh, man! That is my favorite al ltime book, but I have never thought of it in those terms. Care to further detail how you think that book is a useful tool for improvisers?

If you have it near read the beginning again. He tells us what's there at the train station and erases it and fleshes it in based on assumptions and observations... what he does in the opening is what I think improvisors are doing all the time to create a story.
