I actually really love and am infectiously cheered by seeing my friends happy. And I love your description of the father and daughter. :)

Now I'm picturing you giving the father a bear hug while he hugs his daughter, just a big happy huggy pile, and that makes me happy too. :)

You could write a short note (a couple of sentences) and just hand it to him sometime. He sounds like a great dad.

Focus on positives is helpful, and it's good to note that everyone has their ups and downs. Usually it helps me to know that others are having some good times.

I'm glad to hear from several friends here that posts about good things are received positively. You never know. I'd hate to cause discomfort or, heaven forbid, be thought of as Pollyannaish. :)

Quite right about carrying a small note for the next time we cross paths; I was thinking something similar during my chickening-out. Heh - I could keep it next to the business cards I fantasize about making and handing to those charity volunteers who block the sidewalk that say, "Stop accosting me just because I look approachable."

II *Neigh* That is one cool dude alright. I note he's the only one sporting jeans in that pic. Me like.....

III Focusing on the positives and finding happiness where you can is a healthy approach and if others follow you example it would be a good thing, not a bad thing. You can't direct other people's attention bias. You're posts make it clear that your life is not always honey & peaches, you just don't dwell on the back stuff, you dwell on the good stuff.
