And then last night happened. First there was the screening of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, the classic there's-a-mole-among-the-spies thriller (says she who only knew of it because of a Garak reference in DS9) which in this incarnation focuses on character relationships over action, and then there was the Q&A with Gary Oldman and director Tomas ( Read more... )

Cool! I'm glad someone read it. :) I'd be happy to join you when it comes out in Dec/Jan, if our timing works.

Well, now I want to see that movie, lol :D

About Garak: I'm reading "A stitch in time", written by the actor of Garak himself, now and enjoy it quite a bit (which says something, as I basically never read fictional books).

Oh, cool. I remember when that came out, but I never got around to reading it. Any good? (obv the context of Trek paperbacks, anyway)

It's hard for me to answer that, as strange as it may sound ... I enjoy it and continue reading, which in itself means it can't be that bad. On the other hand it's impossible to say if my standards are exceptionally high or exceptionally low ... because, honestly, I basically never ever read fiction books anymore. I love good science books, but have a hard time keeping up with any fiction, no matter if sci-fi, fantasy, historical, classic, contemporary ... oh well, you get the idea. I guess for me to be interested in a fiction book (that sounds wrong somehow, excuse my bad english ^^;;) I need to have some kind of ... fandom interest. Which is the case with Garak/Cardassia. I never read any other Trek book, btw. I really, really rarely read anything besides comics and non-fiction ( ... )
