Ok so thursday I will buy a new Mp3 player and I'm 50/50 on the Zen Vision:M and the Apple ipod. The Zen is a better player because it is featured packed, customizable, better video res., and longer battery life. Although the ipod is better looking, thinner, and simpler to use. But the one one thing that is holding me back on the Zen is the fact it ( Read more... )

I'm big on the ipod, I'll tell you to get the ipod, I'm sure you can sync itunes from your external hd without any problems.

However I don't know anything about this Zen Vision and it looks kinda neat to be honest.

One thing about the Zen that I noticed in Rico's Zen Micro photo. Despite being easier to add and remove photos and music, the protocol is a pain in the ass to run photos when you're actually looking at them. Also you can't listen to music while looking at pics. The whole thing just isn't as clean (the Zen Micro photo actually opens pictures very slowly). Now whether this new Zen Vision:M has fixed these problems or not is a good question to ask. But from what I've seen the ipod just runs more reliably and once you set up a sync folder with itunes for pics and stuff it all happens pretty fluidly.

Get the ipod

well those faults are actualy better, but one other thing that I really love about ipod is the apple store at the falls. Because once I get back to miami and if I have any problems with the ipod I can simply go to the store instead of having to send it to the company.

Steer clear from the iPOD at ALL costs. Coming from a tech support/warranty work guy, please I see them EVERY SINGLE DAY. I must see at least 5 iPods in a single 6-8 hour shift. Granted they sell more than any other single unit.. but they also all suffer from the same problems. Freezes while playing music. Randomly deletes your songs. Hard drive goes bad after 1.5 yrs or sooner. Battery starts going bad in 9 months after use, and never gets near the rated life anyway. Overall in my opinion its one of the worst products ever made, from cheap parts - and they keep cutting corners on the parts.. even on the new video, etc.

Apple store? Another crock.. the warranty on the iPods is supposed to be 1 year parts and labor, hell thats what my inventory system says and thats the way its handled at our service center. Just the other day, though, I went to the "genius bar" at the apple store and they told my friend that even tho he was within the year, he was passed the first 180 days.. and that if his battery was defective, it would cost $30 to ( ... )
