It sounds fascinating! I recently read a novel about the occupied channel islands and I was amazed too - I didn't even realise that there were these small isolated communities controlled by the Germans for a large part of the war.

I think I will try to watch this!

Isn't it great to discover these little corners of history that the large picture seems to have forgotten?
I hope you'll be able to watch it!

I think we have some sort of costume drama hive mind - I watched this a few weeks ago as well! I loved it :) And I also wouldn't have known about the channel islands being invaded if it weren't for this, it really was fascinating.

Also, I was a bit in love with Bernhardt :D

Maybe you watched it as well because you came across the screencaps nancherrow made and posted about on bbccostumedrama? Anyway, that was the reason I decided to watch it. I sort of knew in the back of my mind that the Channel Islands were invaded, but I never really thought about it.

Bernhardt was lovely! I'm making icons of him and Angelique, will post soon! I was already half in love with Laurence Fox from watching him in Lewis, he's brilliant in that. And usually I don't even like blond men!

From memory, I came across it while googling Philip Glenister for some reason... My curiosity was piqued when I saw him in a Nazi uniform and I had to know what show it was! Somehow I'd totally missed those caps on bbccostumedrama, but they are lovely :)

And ah, I've not seen Lewis, but since he's in it, maybe I should check it out! (And I don't usually like blonde men either, so there you go!)

Laurence Fox is great in Lewis. He and Kevin Whately, who plays Lewis are so funny and endearing together! And Claire Holman (who played Felicity Dorr in Island at War) is also regularly in Lewis.

Philip Glenister played a very interesting role didn't he?

BTW, what time is it at your side of the world, rather late isn't it?
