I'm soo glad that you enjoyed this! It's really a hidden gem! The acting and the history was all just great. I do wish the timeline had been a bit less frenetic but I do understand that they wanted to squeeze in a lot in only a few episodes. If only they had more time!
Olive was my favorite too! <3 I never finished The Crimson Field but I agree that ANZAC Girls was much better. It definitely motivated me to discover more about these women and their amazing lives. I really need to find a good biography or two! I was really blown away by how good the cinematography was too. The opening credit scene was just gorgeous!
Yes, I guess it already cost a lot of money to make this series, so 6 episodes might have been the max they could afford?
Did you read The Roses of No Man's Land by Lyn MacDonald? It's not really a biography, but more of a general work about nurses in WWI and I loved it! It's very readable, but does still feel like a solid historical work and gives a lot of background information, but also first-hand accounts.
