What I like about pokemon is how easily the concept can be warped into whatever feel you want.

I mean I guess I can see where people would come from, but they're really two very different things

Oh, yeah, I'm not saying Yu-Gi-Oh's not good! I've never gotten into it, so I can't judge it. I just remember way back when I was in fourth grade it seemed like it was going to overtake Pokemon as the next big monster-collecting thing for a while, but in terms of sheer popularity Pokemon always won out.

oh, no, I didn't think you were trying to say that at all! I thought you were just referring to YGO as a competitor for Pokemon. I just see them as being different enough (in general) that that's not really the case, for me. The TCG is the only way in which there's a competition but the TCG has never been the biggest part of Pokemon for me. And at any rate it probably varied a lot from place to place.

Ah, the Pokemon anime. Fond memories of getting up at 6 am on a weekday to watch it before school. Haven't watch it since I was like 12. It was the same story day after day: Ash and Co. meet a new pokemon/trainer, Team Rocket tries to steal it, BLASTING OFF AGAIN! The games are a whole new ballfield though. Love them forever~

OH MY GOD the most emotional thing ever. I started sobbing like halfway through the last episode and didn't stop until ten minutes after it was over. It was so sad and beautiful. I want to talk about it, but ~spoilers~

This was interesting. I liked Pokemon when I was... mmmm... in the fourth grade? I think I only got into it because it was all the craze in my class. I mean, I had the Blue version of the game and genuinely thought it was fun, but I never finished it... and don't really want to. XD I got impatient with it and then lost interest as soon as more than 150 (151?!?!?) Pokemon came around... I do think some of the Pokemon designs are really cute, though.
