I'm so over joyed with the end. It's not a quick fix and happily ever after, exactly because you don't see him reach what he sees as a perfect future... but we know that he will. I read it twice. And when the week is over I'm going to read it again. This was so lovely. I know you're done with the story but my mind keeps wandering to the 15 missing years, it leaves you a great opening if you ever decided to continue this, if ever.

I felt so bad for Lex at the end. How he couldn't let go of Clark. It broke my heart and made this thick lump form in my throat. Lex, who is so in control, who needs things on his terms or not at all, clung. Luthors never beg... but he pleaded.

[But just the same, he wouldn't have changed it if he could. Laid out before him now was a path he didn't want to traverse. But it led to another that he would do anything to reach. And somehow, he was going to make that be enough.]
That second and third line killed me. I teared up and blinked a lot trying to get past it... He was so determined in the Fortress to ( ... )

Well, I have to be honest: Your comments made me a little teary, too! It is just so fantastic to hear that you're thinking of those 15 years! Continuing the story in your mind after it ends is one of those signs that tells me I've done what I intended, and that's a great feeling. It's the kind of thing that I strive for (after all, life doesn't end when someone stops telling the story-it always continues on) and that I can't always achieve, so thank you very much for letting me know about it.

I have to agree with you about Lex's oncoming anger. Knowing that he has to wait for so long regardless of who he becomes or what he does, I can see him taking out his frustrations on Clark/Superman and just in general using his 'evil genius.' He's got to keep himself occupied somehow! ^_^ But I have to admit that what happened here, to me, could very well be what caused Lex's new leaf in early seventh season (letting Lana come back and agreeing not to bother her regardless of what she did to him; offering protection to Kara [and showing ( ... )

ACK!
they're friends again for FIVE years before they become lovers?! that means he waits twenty-FIVE years for something he wants, not TWENTY!!!

*flips out worse*

timeline was awesome, btw.

LOL! Well, not necessarily... They became lovers in 2025, but who knows when that first kiss actually took place? ;) And wouldn't that just be a teeth-grinding frustration for poor Lex?

Clark: Um, yeah, Lex, that kiss last night was really awesome and everything, but, uh... I don't think I'm ready for this. Gimme a few years?

Lex: ::rends garments; curses in seven languages; and has one of Mars's moons destroyed with a barrage of missiles::

heh heh

I do love the idea of another five year friendship before they become lovers, despite poor Lex's frustrations (though by then, I suppose he would have to have patience ingrained on his psyche-he's already waited so long). I love the idea of them slowly growing to know one another intimately again, but openly this time, without secrets. By the time they actually fell into bed, they'd know each other better than anyone ever had. It must have been the most romantic damn thing ever. ... Yeah, I'm a sap.

I'm glad you enjoyed the timeline! ^_^

That was excellent. I definitely teared up in places. *sniffle* Oh, Lex.

(I did spend a while hoping for hot clonecesty threeway sex, but in the end, Kal's statement convinced me. It wouldn't have been right. This way when Lex and Clark get together it will be both of them getting together, and that first kiss will be the first kiss for both of them, and it will be more fair and awesome.)

Good job! Thank you.

I'm so glad you liked it!

I did spend a while hoping for hot clonecesty threeway sex

ROFLMAO! You are the first person to mention that possibility, and I was SO surprised! I seriously thought everyone would be sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting for it to happen. ::snicker::

I'm really glad, though, that Kal's statement convinced you it's best to wait. ;)

Thanks!

Ha ha, yeah, I'm glad that after reading parts 1 and 2 when first posted I got it all in one go today, because that makes for better convincement.

Whhaaaatt? No one else mentioned that? *is disappointed in fandom* They were all in bed together, why aren't people's minds in the gutter!!! Pssshhh.

Beautiful ending, though I still feel bad for Lex having to wait those 15 years for his friendship with Clark again. I love Kal's reaction and response to Lex asking for a kiss. :)

I love the time line too. Thanks for putting it together. :D
