My name is kevon..I am dx with bipolar 1. I have been taking zyprexa for over two years now with, suprisingly, very little weight gain from it. It works to tame the mania and keep a stable mood. I've been on Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Valium, and Halcion and of those, Ativan is one of the lesser addictive benzos, but still has a big risk for dependence. At one time I abused benzos when I first started getting prescriptions for them, but after some really bad moves on my part that resulted in blackouts for as long as 5 days at a time, I decided that I would rather use it responsibly so that it would be there for my anxiety when I needed it, rather than it being gone in a couple of days because I had abused it. And I really don't abuse at all anymore, but still I'm dependent on benzos. I have been taking Klonopin for about 3 years daily. It still works well, and as long as I take it as I should there's no problems. But would I go through withdrawals if I stopped taking it? Absoultely! Horrible withdrawal!!

I can relate totally! I used to run thru a bottle of benzo's in a day or two. Like you said..I am trying to use it responsibly because it helps my anxiety like nothing else. I want to keep getting it when I need it from the doc.
