I don't know if this is any help. I've never taken Prozac, but I had a similar reaction to being on Cipramil without a mood stabiliser or anti-psychotic. And the GP did exactly the same thing. I got manic on it, and she told me to double the dose. Needless to say my reaction was not good.

I can't remember what prozac did for me (I think I only had it prescribed for PMS) but Lexapro did a number on me. Oddly, it took me a while to convince my p-doc to take me off it. Bipolars and pure antidepressants often don't mix. : /

I was put on Prozac when I was 18 to treat anorexia and bulimia. I wasn't diagnosed, or seeminly even evaluated for, any kind of mood disorder until this past year (I'm 26 now). Anyway, Prozac did the following to me ( ... )

Yeah I had the anxiety attacks too , I found it hard to even get out of bed.
And thats the other thing i noticed , it seemed to , from what I can *remember* induce some horrible type of psychosis. I was only on 20mg for about a week , and then finally got put up to 80mg to stop my moodswings by this obviously *brilliant* doctor.

I told him what was wrong , and he said he wanted to wait for a second opinion from an english doctor (I'm australia and had no medical records in the UK)
