Unnatural composition like that is what makes the house look like the video for Virtual Insanity. They should be next to the chesterfield (sofa in old people) but they're not.
It would have made sense if April just spoke the thoughts out loud. Does Lynn not know that kids often talk to themselves? Oh right- Lynn doesn't know anything about anything.
Most of the time April does talk to herself out loud, so it was unusual for her to use a thought balloon. She is not like young Michael, who thought ballooned entire comic strips.
