I want to know which jobs Elly is referring to that she has "too much education" for. I want to hear her say "I'd apply for this job, but as a college dropout I am overqualified."
Elly, enough. If you've been working "day and night" on these projects, it's because you are a disorganized idiot, not because the projects are enormous. And as soon as this conversation is over, what are you doing? Shelving books. Which means that anything you "need" to get done by the end of the month is not going to get done because you spent that time on busywork and feeling sorry for yourself.

In my experience, "I try to see the good in everyone" is the common refrain of people who ignore blaring alarms and waving red flags because they are too lazy to do anything about them. It's an attempt to put a halo on a self-created Victim.
It's also a nifty way to denigrate and dismiss the people futilely trying to pull Elly's head out of her ass crack. They can only see the bad in people.
yes, somehow the people who ignored the warnings because they were not convenient are made to be the Good Guys of the story because their Great Big Hearts refused to see what was staring them in the face.
Furthermore, the need to not admit to being a gullible sap who gets warm in the secret spots when contemplating the idea of being a respected mentor:
