Okay, so as I mentioned earlier, there's this ridiculous scandal with Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand, where they left rude messages on the answering machine of an older actor as a prank. Which is retarded, certainly, but no scandal material ( Read more... )

I agree its stupid that they've cancelled never mind the buzzcockz because russell brand was on it, but its good that they suspended jonothan ross. They harrassed an eldery man (famous or no) on public radio, they deserve something to happen to them. And the fact they only apologised like 2/3 days later makes it kinda worthless...

Yes it was out of line what they did, but I still don't think it calls for suspension. Of course they shouldn't get away with something as stupid as that. But to suspend a man like Jonathan Ross, who is usually such a good person and a familiy man (as Brand called him), that just feels wrong to me.

And I can see why they only apologised 2/3 days later. Because they clearly didn't think about what they were doing. Only after seeing the reaction of the public they realised they mabe took it a bit far. And then you don't want to say anything rushed, because you don't want to dig the hole you're in any deeper.

After all Sachs accepted their apology and didn't seem that bothered. He was a comic as well, he knows how these things sometimes develop...

I'm a big fan of Jonothan Ross, but he does tend to shoot his mouth off and not apologise for it...
Yeah they probably just got carried away, but i think they both have an air about them that they didnt think there'd be any consequences *shrugs*
Tbh I think its more important that they sack/suspend the people who said it could go out on air as it was pre-recorded.

I do think its a bit ridiculous that its front page and headline news though... like there arent other things we should be worrying about...

Böh? They actually do suspend someone for playing a prank? Gee, it sure is hard to keep your job nowadays. What kind of rude messages were those that they actually have this far-reaching consequences..?

Well, it was kinda tasteless. Russell Brand had sex with his grand-daughter (who always jumps around in magazines in her underwear, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone) and they, like, sang a song about it and stuff.
It certainly was out of line, but it's a bit of an over-reaction.

I didn't listen to the entire thing because I just thought it was unfunny. But man, this is such an overreaction.

I really don't get it at all...
