Supanova Con- 2010

Jun 23, 2010 19:20

Last weekend I headed off on my yearly jaunt to Supanova Con in Sydney. I guess the best way to describe it is as a mini San Diego Comic Con, but one which gets in about 16 000 people and not 10 or 20 times as many!

I loved that last part about meeting a past student of yours! That's such a brilliant little story. I haven't got the teacher glare down yet, but I got some great practice today in using a stern tone with the shits I had today. Oh the joys of being a CRT!!!!

I love that you recognized Mr Cas from Melbourne! When I saw him outside when we were lining up to get in I was like LOL WOT when I saw him. My whole con virginity was showing. But I'm glad he was in front of me and I got him in that video because he made it so much more entertaining!

Eliza is so freakin gorgeous.

Perhaps I will venture to Supanova next year, who knows!

Seeing Bronson was really incredible, and very rewarding. I mean, I know what I do matters every day, but since I moved away from Broken Hill I've never really had a chance to see the long-term growth of my first students.

Look it's me and Mr Cas (I'm a big believer in the 'pics or it didn't happen adage!)

I have students from my teaching rounds last year run up to me still to tell me how much they miss me, considering I was only there for 6 weeks it blows my mind.

I LOVE THIS! Lol at green shirt's face behind you too. That's such a great pic.

Strange people are the best variety!

I'm such a newbie when it comes to conventions, during a conversation at AHBL2 I actually had to ask what supanova is! I almost got shot when I had a mental blank on Batman's real name. I think I'm dangerous to be around at cons! It's not my fault that I'm an airhead! I'm in love with cons now that I know what they're like so I want to start going to lots of them! For the last however many years I've been wasting hundreds if dollars following bands across the country but I've retired from that shit now.

Oh god, that story about your former student was just lovely. Hearing about him bringing you cakes and his fluffy pink pens, and that he turned out confident and happy - that must be one of the best compliments you could receive as a teacher. AWWWW FOREVER.

That group photo is awesome (and lol at Mark's disembodied head). Dichen Lachmann is so beautiful, seriously.

I'm glad you had such a great time!
