[book Note] On shelf space or lack thereof ...

With every shopping trip to town, every visit to online bookstores, finding the perfect space for new acquisitions is getting increasingly difficult.

So far in 2015 I have bought The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton, Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie and two murder mysteries by Louise Penny! This is a disaster as I have nowhere to put any books at all and I am thinking of banning myself from buying more books until at least Easter (I would say for the whole of the rest of the year but that's unlikely to work). The only thing that stops me from doing this is that the last time I banned myself from buying books the ban lasted precisely three hours!

Heh! Yesterday, when I was at the bookstore I actually held Burton's The Miniaturist in my hands, wondering whether to purchase or not, but then decided in favour of Mantel's short stories instead. (Instead of taking both ;-))

In our househould, books usually are the "under control" problem. It's DVDs which have gone completly out of control and there doesn't seem anything we can do against this. Just to give you an example: My Dad gave us the first three seasons of Inspector George Gently for Christmas ("Watch this, daughter and son-in-law! This should be right up your alley,I promise, you'll like it!"). So we watched, enjoyed and promptly ordered seasons 4 and 5.

LOL! I am very familiar with that scenario. Both our books and our DVDs are out of control. We've even managed to make the problem even worse by getting a TiVo which we thought would help but instead we've nearly filled that too! We've concluded we're just hopeless book and tellyholics!
