EDIT: The current death toll is at 51 24 (it was reported this morning that some of the deaths were double counted) and still rising, most of which seem to be children. Such a tragedy. My thoughts go out to all affected.
I'm so sick to my stomach right now watching the coverage. I think if I ever saw the school my kid was supposed to be in look like that I'd have a heart attack before I found out if she was okay or not.
It was reported this morning that the death toll is actually at 24; some of the deaths were double counted. While it is still tragic, 24 is a much better number than 51.
They said about 20-30 bodies were children, count unconfirmed so far. But then again, it's the news so that could be wrong. It hard to hear about things like this happened, but it always seems so much worse when it's children.
I know how it feels. When I was about 10 we lived in a Welsh coal mining Valley with huge piles of black slack on top of the mountains, one day in the next valley along one of the slack piles slipped and buried a school full of children, 144 children and teachers were killed, what made it more personal to me was that it could have been my school.
