Anyone have any suggestions on what to get a 3-year-old boy that he could play with outside during spring/summer other than sprinklers/slip-n-slides?

Here are a few ideas depending on how much you want to spend ( ... )

What's funny is that I looked at some of these items earlier today! Great minds!

I'll be spending around $50-75, so my options are pretty good...there's just SO MUCH that I could get! I was debating between something sports-like, such as a baseball/bat set (my sister got him a ball/glove), a pirate ship swimming pool (he loves pirates right now), and a play-doh set.

Sandbox with toys. Kids love dirt.

I thought about a sandbox, but I wasn't sure if he hadn't out-grown that idea. I've already gotten him a ball pit, lawn care kit (complete with lawnmower and tools), tool bench, puzzles and games. I'm just out of ideas of what to get him. Doesn't help that his birthday is just over 2 months after Christmas!

Well you're going to know him better than I do but I would think at three he'd still enjoying playing in the dirt. Heck I still enjoying playing in the dirt at certain times :)

He loves to play with his tractors in the dirt, no matter where he's at...he just doesn't like to have his hands dirty. I'd have to find one that I really think he'd like (maybe something with a pirate theme). But thank you for the suggestion :)

My son loves bubbles, sidewalk chalk, his little playhouse (was his big sister's), his bike, my gardening tools (got him his own that are smaller and plastic), balls of any kind, and his basket ball set. He's a very out doorsy kid.

Unfortunately, other than sports toys, my godson already has all of that...he's spoiled! lol

My daughter's the same way, with my son not far behind that. We've got so many hot wheels that is feels like an invasion...with transformers coming in a close second at the mo. We had Barbies all over, but the dogs have chewed most of them to pieces. They've even got clothes coming out the ears! There's always the good ole empty box. If my son finds an empty box look out because he just got his hands on the coolest hiding place, or race car, or airplane...it's kinda funny really.

Bubbles are always fun. There's so many machines you can buy to blow them quickly. Especially when it's windy. My nephew is four and he loves going outside and blowing bubbles whether big or little and likes to pop them. He also loves his sidewalk chalk as well as his bat and ball. He likes flying kites, riding his four wheeler, playing football. We have a miniature pool for him with a slide that he loves it gets really hot down in Florida so it's a good way to stay cool. Especially during the summer where it can reach 90 degrees or more.

Believe me, I know! My godson adores bubbles...he was actually playing with some yesterday when I brought him home.

We live in south-central Louisiana, so we're certainly no stranger to hot summers either. I'm leaning toward getting him a pirate ship pool that has a slide and comes with inflatable swords, shields, and a treasure chest.

Pools are definitely fun. Kids love them to death. It's nice, especially if you're having a barbecue or get together it's easy to set up and keeps the kids entertained as you cook or converse with friends.

Joshua loved his three wheeler when he was that age.

Looks cute! The bad things is that he has too much stuff. We all spoiled him so we're clueless as to what to get him for his birthday. I'm actually leaning toward a pirate pool.
