Oh 2009...I will be so happy to see you go. It's been a good year on paper, but I'm mostly feeling blah, and anxious and restless as a result. For the first time in 5 years, I'm not totalle enamored with living in NYC. I definitely consider it "home" at this point, but as the song says...

yeah. that's exactly how I feel right now. I'm going on ( Read more... )

The business is going well,

awesome

I'm going to finish the year 10 pounds past my 30 pound weight loss goal for the year,

even more awesome!

if anybody out there wants the secret to taking off the pounds...The first 3 rules are 1)stop eating sugar

Is that all you did? I find that if I don't exercise (more than my lately-usual amount of none), I don't lose weight no matter how little I eat or what. But yeah -- knocking off the milkshakes once a week would certainly help. I've gotten to the point where I have to make a similar goal. I hate New Year's resolutions, so I'd better get started yesterday.

I've definitely noticed a difference when I stopped drinking summertime lemonade.

no that's not all. but that's the really hard part, considering that for all intents and purposes processed flour and most "big" starches like potatoes and pasta are basically "sugar" Even something simple like ketchup might as well be a snickers bar for the amount of added sugar.

I eat a lot of broccoli, eggs, and fish. and I make all of my own meals.

And I allow myself to say fuck it, and have a piece of pie or whatever, but after a few months of no sugar, one spoonful of ice cream is almost unbearably sweet and rich and kind of disgusting.

Interestingly enough, I quit going to the gym, because that was making me too hungry all the time. the only "exercise" I get is taking the stairs when I can, and getting off the subway a stop early and walking the rest of the way.

two days ago, i went to feed him, and he was belly-up limp fins, kinda gray...dead as far as I could tell. I poked him a couple of times...nothing. I was gonna flush him, but then I wondered if he was just cold, so I put his bowl on the heater and yup...zombie fish, back from the dead.

But you have full custody while I'm gone. It's ok if you don't take good care of him...he's obviously immortal.

This is EXACTLY what the song "Penelopie" by Pinback is about!

When will you be in Seattle? Let's hang, fake park style.

I read about the bar and bikes in every magazine/blog in the world. It's crazy. So yeah, I need to get to Tokyo.
