It Did Not Follow Me Home

I went to the Taylor Guitars Road Show tonight to take a look at the new maple-bodied 600 series guitars. They were quite nice, but didn't really suit me.

I did find one absolutely lovely guitar there though. Some years ago, I was at a road show where I saw a 6-string guitar with a sinker redwood top and macassar ebony back and sides. I ( Read more... )

Years ago I got to try out an all ebony six string from Petros at the Podium. I was expecting a deep voice, but it was surprisingly bright. I didn't know Taylor did much with exotic tone woods beyond koa. Have to keep my eye out.

I too should get my Guild 12 string out more often.

Taylor has used a great many exotic tone woods in various limited editions and custom models. Go check out their website and the back issues of Wood and Steel and you'll find a lot of information on the subject.

I loved that Guild 12 when you got it so much that I got a 12 string of my own, which has been my main guitar for 30+ years.
