The memory

Sep 11, 2013 07:48

I'm sure it must be the same for others, but when appointments are made or events happen (even birthdays) on September 11, I never fail to remember what happened that day in 2001. This is more a permanent reminder of that Day of Infamy more than anything else that's built as a permanent reminder--the memory.

Yes, I remember what happened on that day to the country and to me. 9/11's a permanent marker.

I know what you mean. It's our son's birthday (40 today). Even as a kid, he'd just as soon forget his birthday - he doesn't care who knows how old he is, he just hates being the centre of attention. One of his early thoughts after Sept 11, 2001 was that now everyone would remember his birthday because of their memories of that day.

And he's right.

I wished birthday greetings to several people today on my FB list, and of course with each one I though "what a sucky day to celebrate a birthday."

Neil (Mrdreamjeans) tells me you're a square dance caller with affinities for gay dancers as well.

I also lived in Albuquerque for ten years (1966-1976) while I taught at both the old and new campuses of Albuquerque High School.

I'd like being your friend on LJ.
