Congratulations on your vehicle! I hope it hangs around for a bit and doesn't give you any trouble.

It was really well kept. The guy who had it last made sure to do all the suggested maintenance and upkeep. It was all on the company tab, of course. He was about to retire from his job, and expected they were going to give him the suv, so he gave it a major refit and overhaul about a month before we heard of it. However, in the last few weeks of his employment, things went sour, and they denied him the vehicle, and it was put on sale on a rather low price.

It's resale value is hella-high, and we actually considered selling it and buying another car while keeping the excess, but it's so nice having a car that looks and drives like new that we're keeping it.

Is it the hybrid or gas version?

I would sell it for a smaller car and keep the excess, but then I have a loathing for SUVs. Do you have a need for a car this big?

I am amused that Toyota states that it's not designed for off-road usage.

Actually, it's rather small for an SUV. Only a little bigger than our Nissan 200sx. It's regular gas engined, but it seems to not do too bad. I drive it to work and back, which is about an hour total per day, and all the other usual stuff I do now that I have a car, and I only have to fill it up every couple of weeks, when it gets to about 3/4 empty. (I don't like to try the "empty-light-to-truly-out" capacity.) I'll have to look up the stats on it. It's also one of the 1st generation Highlanders, so it's not nearly as big as you might see out of the current Highlander models.

Lastly, it was 3000 bucks for a $12,000 vehicle in extremely well-maintained condition. Convince me not to buy that.

You're coming to Boston? That's like, 2-3 hours from me. Want to stop in Danbury??

Oh I would LOVE to, but the rehearsal and a whole mess of other shit is keeping our schedule tight. I'm only getting a couple extra days off to do this, and those two days are going to be entirely driving... I'm sorry... :(
