The day after Saint Patrick’s Day usually meant that you had to be extra careful of your footing, since not all of the previous night’s revelers managed to bring their green beer home with them

I saw a recipe that called for using good Irish butter, as if using butter from the cattle for which His Lordship drove us from farms into famine were somehow more authentic.

I've made Irish Soda bread a few times; as you said it's best still warm from the oven with lashings of butter.

I've only ever used this recipe, and I make one large one instead of two.
