Inertial Damping

Last year, I sent a back-of-the-envelope financial statement to our advisor. We have $SAVINGS, are planning to add $CONTRIBUTIONS more, foresee certain $COSTS, and think we can live happily on $BUCKS per year. What do you think? Can we retire by $DATE ( Read more... )

We pare down quite a bit as well. Years ago, we ditched our land line since our cell phones are all we need. We also have just basic satellite stations and HBO but we have to cut that out, we think, for now. We watch more movies than a TV anyway...

Groceries are very difficult for only two. It's tough to cook dinner all the time when there's either different or very late schedules where cooking isn't an option. And I understand attempting to eat right by buying produce with good intentions...yeah rots in the crisper for the most part. We live on lots of pre-cooked chicken sausage and turkey meatballs from Trader Joes that I could whip up a meal with.

As I may be retiring in this year 2014 and certainly by 2016 , I'm glad to know I'm not alone in the boat .

When I was a young lad I only bought food I knew I'd eat and so didn't toss any out and was *much* thinner ~ I'm not sure SWMBO will go for that approach .

Will you retain both residences when you pull the pin ? .

I need to be ready to weather a ten or fifteen percent correction without losing my equanimity ( ... )

I just hope my crumbling rat trap doesn't collapse around my ears .

It sounds to me like you're doing well , my brother now lives in Waldoboro , Me. and commutes to MIT .

Every time the stock market tanks , I scrape up any$ I can and go buy more stock .

I try to stick with the Blue Chips , my mother did very well , I'm not really savvy there , don't understand the minutiae .
