The Unindicted One and I are nerds. We don’t even try to deny it. We’re also DINKs (Dual-Income, No Kids). We don’t have many extravagances, preferring to save for a nice elderly couple we haven’t met yet, but who we will one day be. But we do budget for computers and gadgets

I suspect it's an intermittent reinforcement thing, or a supply chain issue. Apple should be used to upgrade fever right now; after all, they're the ones pushing it.
