[Frey isn't particularly looking for a sparring partner, but upon seeing the gun, he cant help but stare in disbelief. he's only seen one once, but he knows you can't properly spar with a distance weapon, let alone something as rare and deadly as a gun. Or two. He didnt think he'd ever get used to this place.]
You want to spar with that? Don't you mean some sort of shooting competition? Like with archers?

Um, you were talking about something called “Machina” earlier. Do you mean machines?

Eh? Yeah! The people from Spira are a little backward, Yevon makes everything into some weird mystic kinda thing, so they renamed Machines as Machina.

But yeah, I'm the best mechanic in Spira.

Really? Odd. people who work with such things in my world are always well sought after. [though they're often hard to find. Isolated techology is crazy, man.]

Well, Machina aren't really that prejudiced against anymore, not since Yuna kicked ass. But it used to be that us Al Bhed were enemies of Yevon 'cause we worked with 'em.

It was a tough life.

well, that's good then, right? not that you were prejudiced against, but that you are no longer.

Still, I cannot quite fathom why someone would hate machinery. I mean, sure, it can be used for wrong doing, but that’s only in the wrong hands. it betters the people's lives normally, doesn’t it?

[Like the revolving bridge. it helped protect the capital from invasion, but it was used against them as well. it all depended on the people using it.]

Ah... Well... [War. Lots of war. Usually incited or made worse by the founding powers of their world.] There's a war going on. I was... fighting in it. [leading an army.] As for technology, well, we dont have many machines, but we do have plenty of Runic magic

Ah Magic. Magic's handy for loads of stuff. One of Yuna's Guardians was a black-magic caster, she's pretty famous.

...They really mess up my machines though.

mm. Yes, it is, isn’t it? Though some should never be used. at all.
[And Frey has no idea how to respond to his last comment. He's fought robots before and he knows lightning magic seems to work better on them, but that’s about it.]

We don't really have any forbidden magics in Spira. But then again, the really powerful stuff is inside everyone.. Memories and that sort of thing.

I see.... well, magic, or as we call its form in my world, runes, are intertwined with our very world. And there are very, very powerful runes out there, called True runes, that manifest the power that makes up our world. Some... can devastate entire town’s in one blast of power.
