I wanted to like it, even though I went in with low expectations.

Elements of the film reminded both of The Matrix, and Fight Club... but the whole execution failed.

A complete lack of sympathy or empathy for the protagonist never helps things...

***SPOILER ALERT***SPOILER ALERT***SPOILER ALERT***

We enjoyed the first half of the movie...it didn't seem to be taking itself too seriously and had some fun action sequences. We began losing interest when they introduced the mechanism for delivering the names of those to be killed. All I could think of is:

I had a negative reaction to the little ending 'speech' that the guy gives. I am so OVER the whole 'way of the gun' method of bringing meaning to life.

They were using cadavers for target practice; this movie is nihilistic, and not in the good way. And on top of that, it was just bad. The little twist that happens at the tail-end of the train/car/hot chick chase-scene felt tacked-on, like they so they had to draw something out of a bucket of random plot elements when they ran into a brick-wall on page 110 of the script. I never read any of the comics, but according to Wikipedia this movie strayed way off course from the original books.

Vince and his partner are in our thoughts and prayers.
