Elda sighs as the credits roll. "Ohhhh. That was amazing. I'm sad it's over! I get like that with plays sometimes. I always want to know what happens next. Do they really escape? Does he ever find someone else to love?"

She crunches on a few last kernels of popcorn. "And you say there are thousands of these 'movies'? Like books, and plays?"

"Hundreds of thousands. Some of them are even that good."

He takes a look over his shoulder again, then gives Elda's hand a tug.

"Time to head out. When an usher comes in for clean up and finds a gargoyle, he might have a heart attack."

With a, "Here's lookin' at you, kid," Brooklyn tosses Elda over his shoulder and climbs up the back wall of the theater to the projector loft. He pops the roof access door, climbs out, and reaches down to help Elda outside.

"Now, isn't this more fun than the front door?"

Elda scrambles up onto the roof, careful not to lose her feathers bag, which is slung over one shoulder. "How do you think he'd feel if he found a griffin? And it was fun. Also sly," she says, grinning. She looks out at the city lights.

"It's so strange, here. Beautiful, though. One certainly would have a difficult time getting bored!" She looks over at Brooklyn.

"What would you like to do now?"

He grins. Then bounds to the edge of the roof, leaps across the gap, clings to the side of the building next door, and leaps again with his wings spread wide.

"Come on! Race you!"

And he soars upward.
