Due South fic recs

As the title says, DS fic recs! There's not nearly as many fics represented here as I have saved or even read, but hopefully people will chime in with their favorites. I especially would like to know of any good ones written in the last year or so, since I can guarantee that I haven't read one written since I discovered Star Trek.

All fics are F/ ( Read more... )

I love you for doing this! I've dug out my dvd sets and fallen back in love with the show, even though I haven't been into it for years. I'd forgotten how good it was. Can't wait to check out the couple of these fics that I haven't already read. Thanks!

I've only been a fan for two years, but it must have been a good year and a half since I really sat down and immersed myself in it, and damn, I must make Due South week a yearly event! :)

I think my top three stories are Broadway Hotel, How Ray Got His Groove Back (first F/K I read!), and (Speranza's) Killer Replacements.

More F/K, mostly old, no particular order:

Everything Kellie Matthews ever wrote. Especially the Masterminds/Buried on Sunday crossover, Crossroads.

I have no idea if AuKestrel's still around, but her trilogy was pretty good.

Kat Allison is good. Depressing, but good.

Un-American, by Laura JV. Nice little story with fun banter. The rest of her stuff is generally very good, too.

Refraction, by Shrift. RayK in eyeliner.

AU genderswap casefic: Being Ray Kowalski by isiscolo, and its sequel Anima by J S Cavalcante.

Two Men in a Boat by Sihaya Black. African Queen AU! I would rec Pas de Deux, but it doesn't seem to be on the internet anymore.

Volcanic Geranium, by zelempa. More drag fic.

Helen78 has been writing some good dS lately.

*rubs hands together with glee*

I just read The Killer Replacements again. Man, what I wouldn't give for a sequel and see them in their undercover roles. I think I'm going to re-read Scrabble in a day or two, simply because I don't really remember it. I think the only one I didn't like of hers was the one where Fraser was sort of married to Victoria and after he "divorces" her he has sex all over the place and then Ray joins in. I guess I don't like sharing, lol.

And ooh, I haven't read a few of these. I don't know what happened to Pas de Deux. And you recced me more drag fic! You are on my happy list. :)

The only Speranza story I really hated was Kowalski Is Bleeding, and I no longer remember why I hated it, but I remember Speranza somehow found my LJ to discuss it with me. Eep.

I like the Killer Replacements so much because it's like the opposite of all those post-CotW stories where Ray has to go north for Fraser and make all these sacrifices. Here, it's Fraser following Ray.

Since I may not have provided enough links, Kat Allison's fic is here (all very dark). The AuKestrel series (a classic of F/K, though I haven't read it in years so it may not hold up) I was talking about is Three Christmases, Losing My Religion, Sweetness Follows, and Near Wild Heaven.

If you need Pas de Deux, I think I have a copy I can email you.

Aw man, I'm sorry I missed this when it was posted. Thanks so much, can't wait to get into some of these :D Also, WORD on the whole 'would have liked to see RayK and Victoria interact'.

Heres a few RayK/Fraser stories, in case you haven't read them:

That's Where All The Gangsters Live - a closer look at RayK that's just beautiful.

Waiting For The Weird - Dewey's getting married, and Ray and Fraser are established.

Watershed - Fraser 'overreacts' and RayK starts thinking.

The Delivery - oh man, HAVE YOU READ THIS? I don't know, I love it. Stella goes to personally deliver some papers to Ray [maybe a little more than that] but Ray already has company ;)

You and I Are - I fucking adore this story. It's not a happy fic, but it feels so much like them as I know them that, despite the fact it's not a preferable life for them, you can't help believe it could really be like this.

Ray Is Not Actually Graphing His Relationship With Fraser - THERE ARE ACTUAL GRAPHS.

Where The Story Changes - a post-COTW Franklin Adventure story in ( ... )

Don't worry about it, I'm a strong believer in better late than never.:D

Oh man, I forgot about The Delivery! *flails* And I don't believe I've read the other stories, so this is awesome! *basks in story-sharing goodness*

I LOVE IT SO MUCH I COULD CRY.

Whichever Ray is the first one xD I've only seen till the end of season one just yet! BUT I HAVE ORDERED ME SOME MOAR BOXSETS XD

(I have done my homework and am prepared for the fact that I'll probably end up shiping the second ray and fraiser more because that seems to be what everyone else does xD)

I would say TOO MANY RAYS IN THIS SHOW XD But I don't know if you CAN have to many Rays.

I just find it cool that you shipped the first one right off the bat. I didn't ship them automatically and I don't read fanfic, but going back again recently I saw more reasons why people ship them. :D You may be one of the elusive multi-shippers of Due South. You may even like Ray/Ray, once you see them in action together in the second-to-last episode.
