Totally right. I was spoiled and I was like oh god, more embarrassment and crazy girls and shit, but they were all men and really, it was so over the top that it was awesome. It was more like a Star Trek convention, lol.
Shit no you don't have to see the original, there are many who don't even like the original series! Personally I love both equally and for different reasons (mostly because I love intelligent, cheesy ass shows, lol) but as long as you love some part of it, there's a place for you. \o It's seriously non-wanky. There was probably three times there was potential wank on ontd_startrek the largest and craziest collection of awesome Star Trek fans) and each time the wank was resolved by agreeing to disagree and turning that shit into a party post. All the old fans are wonderfully nice to the new ones (pretty much)and it's just...fun!
Speaking of which, what pairings/characters/things do you like about nutrek? I love when my long-term flisters are interested in new fandoms, it's exciting!
I'm a fan of Kirk/Spock (Kock? Spirk? I like Kock better. More homoerotic). That fic you recced a bit ago was seriously awesome. I'd love to see some more fic of that caliber from the ST fandom. But IDK where to look. T.T

And you have instantly won my heart and my adulation. :D Kirk/Spock is EPIC, as you've probably seen hinted at on my journal. Never say you don't know where to find good K/S fic, because you might get recced to hell. My delicious has a good load of Kirk/Spock, but I warn you to check my tags. Anything with a "toread" tag means that I haven't read it yet and therefore can't guarantee it's good. Then anything labeled with a "TOS" tag means the original series universe, so stray from that. And then "bad!fic" which is self-explanatory and is saved for the lulz.
It's hard to really choose favorites, but I think my four favorites (besides the one I recced and you read before) that I find myself reading over and over again are as follows:

I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE JUST SAID, ESPECIALLY REGARDING THE NEXT EPISODE. UGH. I MIGHT NOT EVEN BOTHER TO WATCH. Dean has the worst romance scenes. IDKY. I haven't watched Route 666. UGHGGGHHHH. Yeah. I might just wait for people's reviews. Just... that ship is so dead, you know? It's like a zombie ship. But we can't slay it. :(

Lol, you're lucky not to have seen Route 666, UGH. I don't get it, Dean's romances suck. And god, JO sucks! If she dies I'll be cool, because hey, if you're gonna kill a character, then give the poor girl what she wants, lol.
