I rewatched The Naked Time with my mom last night. It's always fun watching with her, because she's A.) the only one I know who actually loves Star Trek and B.) it's been so long since she's seen episodes that some things are new for her still. Another explanation would be that the show is rife with inconsistencies, but that explanation has a negative fun value for me and I am taking the slashy way.

Yep, that's also a good point, lol. And I have to be fair, The Naked Time was one of the notorious 'early episodes' where Spock's character wasn't cemented yet, so he was more prone to sort-of smiles and odd behavior. At least the point of Vulcans being allowed to have friends holds up, being in season two, so the 'ashamed' for friendship thing is probably just repression.

You really do take all the fun out, LOL. But hey, there's so much overwhelming and damning evidence out there that it's illogical to feel slighted at one point. :P

Yeeeeeeeppp. I think this is the first fandom where I really don't feel like I have to defend my ship. The evidence is so overwhelming that even those who primarily ship other pairings still easily recognize why others see it, and those who doubt it are really just homophobic assholes who see no one as gay. Usually I'm always defending my pairings in other fandoms and there's huge shipping wars, but not TOS, strangely enough.

You'd have to either be a person who is deluded and wants to ship another pairing come hell or high water, or homophobic and not wanting to see slash in any form whatsoever. And then there's the third option, which are those who like other pairings more, but they don't deny the K/S subtext. Try that in just any fandom.
