HAHA, REDSHIRTS. :DD
This was nicely done. I like this explanation for Arthur's behaviour. And of Cedric's fate. I wonder what did happen to him?

Heck if I know. Knowing this show, he's probably dead and forgotten. Also your icon = ♥! Tribbles!

A: Love your lay out.

B: Love the redshirts!

C: I really do love Cedric in this one, how much he really hated taking care of Arthur and how his words about how Arthur hated Merlin were what gave Merlin hope. ^_^

I can't imagine that Cedric is used to hard labor as a professional thief. And of course Merlin would find hope there, because he probably thinks Arthur can easily chuck him aside in favor of someone else. Nope, instead he gets Cedric to play his manservant just to make Merlin jealous. That bitch. :)

Despite him being a slimy git, I actually like the idea of Cedric surviving.

He's one of those easily predictable characters that bring about mischief and mayham and give you comic relief, like sidekick villains in Disney movies. :)

Well, we all know that Merlin and Arthur are most affectionate in their insults to one another... It wouldn't surprise me at all, actually, if Arthur did actually talk about Merlin the entire time he was in Cedric's presence.

I very much enjoyed this. I feel better about things after reading this. I mean, I enjoyed the episode...I just didn't enjoy Arthur's assy-ness. This was a wonderful coda that was well written! Thank you for sharing :D

Next week he could still be an assshole, but at least I appeased myself for a week. :) Writing is such good personal therapy.

I'm a big believer in Arthur being totally oblivious to his real feelings for Merlin. Hell, if he can ignore all evidence that Merlin is a sorcerer, I can fully believe he's definitely blind enough to look over his own feelings.

This was awesome! It seemed to me like Cedric was dead at the end of the episode, but whatever. I was also pissed at Arthur. Even when he was ensorcelled he never treated Merlin like that.

TOS reference: Perhaps they could all wear red shirts and dresses so they could more easily be identified and picked off. Hee!

You called the crown prince a clotpole and he only told you to go home and think about what you did. Hee! When I watched that scene in the stable I said, “He sent him to his room!”

"I don't suppose you wouldn't give me a leg up?" Double negative here, might want to change that.

Arthur’s complaining because he enjoys it, and because he can’t admit he cares about Merlin except by complaining. Obviously.

You're right, did miss a double negative, shame on me since I correct others all the time. Damn writing it all in an hour. However, now that I look at it and how it's not only in dialogue but actually sounds like how Cedric would phrase something, I like it. Happy little accident, lol.

Even when he was ensorcelled he never treated Merlin like that.

Dude, word. I keep hearing the defense that Arthur put up with a lot before throwing Merlin in the dungeon, and that's true, but it's not like he was showing great concern for Merlin before that point. Cedric was the one who had to suggest that Merlin needed rest and throughout the whole episode, Arthur never pulled Merlin aside and asked if he was okay. >.
