Oh, I really liked Uhura's perspective in this: she's brittle and proud, but perceptive as hell and noble in the end, what with encouraging Spock to go after Jim. The idea of Uhura treating Spock as purely Vulcan is a fascinating point that I hadn't considered earlier, and the entire birthday scene was a perfect encapsulation of the differing dynamics - Kirk *pushes* Spock into acknowledging parts of himself he'd rather suppress, whereas Uhura lets him keep his walls up. Love love love.

I think you summed it up better than I wrote it. 0_o Thanks for the awesome feedback, it made my day.

I like this because you gave Uhura her due. You didn't make her evil but you didn't have her just roll over so Kirk and Spock could have epic love for each other.

It's weird; I can't actually HATE Uhura, and that's weird because usually I hate what I see as a contrived relationship. So far I only feel sorry for her in regard to the K/S fandom.

I agree.
I also feel sorry for her in canon because in TOS Kirk and Spock being best friends forever and being each others most important relationship is canon (and sort of the point of the show and definitely the movies). It looks like the new movie is that way too, with their friendship being what defines Kirk and Spock's lives.
If she want to be second best, that's her business. I think she deserves more.

That was really well done. I think you had Uhura handle the situation in the best way expected.

Oh, an interesting and rather complex take. Not how I personally envision S/U to play out but it was still an enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing. :-)
