in order to take him to court you need to have proof that you gave him the money with him having the intention of paying you back. signed agreement kinda thing. It's not like it was his fault. you didn't have to do these things because of him.

I know in MI/IL it would never hold up in court and you'd be out court costs.

I would ask him to pay it back as soon as possible and see what he says. if he's not going to do it then you'll just have to suck it up as a loss.

I've been out so much money because of friends. I've only ever had one person pay me back....and a roommate that cost me $8,000....so I know how it goes and it's not fun at all.

I threw the Judge Judy and Judge Joe Brown thing out there as a joke. ;-)

I don't even have an documentation to qualify claiming it as a net loss on my taxes, so I guess I'm screwed if he doesn't get a little more serious about paying up...
