Hi all,

I just finished The Fires of Vulcan recently, which was my first audio with Mel, and I really adored her. I'm also currently in the middle of Eye of the Scorpion which is great. I'd like to listen to more Mel and Peri.

What are everyone's favorite Peri or Mel audios? Anyone have any recs or which ones to get or which to avoid?I have no ( Read more... )

Huge recommendation for Peri and the Piscon Paradox, The Kingmaker and The Bride of Peladon. For Mel, my favourites are Bang-Bang-A-Boom and Flip-Flop.

I hated The Reaping and Mission To Magnus, and am in the minority who didn't like The One Doctor.

See my write-ups on http://www.librarything.com/catalog/nwhyte&tag=mel and http://www.librarything.com/catalog/nwhyte&tag=peri .

seconding the recommendations for Kingmaker, Bride of Peladon and Flip-Flop.

For Peri, I also loved The Church and the Crown (wich is a fun adventure story set in the 1620's at the court of Louis XIII) with the Fifth Doctor, Son of the Dragon (another historical with the Fifth Doctor, of a more serious tone, but still good) and I greatly enjoyed Year of the Pig with the sixth (more of a nice and quiet audio, but very fun). There is also a one episode short called The Veiled Leopard featuring Peri and a couple of other companions which you might enjoy, if you can find it.

As for Mel, I have fond memories of The One Doctor, which is a very, very silly comedy episode featuring the infinite IKEA shelves of doom.

Thanks so much! I appreciate it, and these are all going on my list, and Son of the Dragon was on sale this past weekend so I snapped it up.

Love, love, love the Kingmaker. It made my list of my top ten favorite Who stories, in any format, of all time.

The Kingmaker seems to be a popular one, so I will definitely grab that one. Thanks!

Seconding Peri and the Piscon Paradox (it will make you laugh and then it will punch you in the heart-- though fair warning that you should probably have watched Peri's time on the show first) and Bang-Bang-A-Boom! (Seven and Mel does Eurovision IN SPACE! There are spoons involved).

Also adding ... ish, because it's basically Six duking it out with a sentient suffix that's angry at not being an entire word. Yup.

These all sound awesome, thanks! (I haven't watched all of Peri's episodes, but I do have a fair sense of her storyline and her fate, so hopefully it will be okay for the Piscon Paradox.)

i dislike a lot of the middle peri'n'erimem stories (like nekromantia, the axis of insanity, the roof of the world). but 'kingmaker' is amazing. 'son of the dragon' is loads of fun.

six and peri: 'ish' is very silly, but if you like word play it's well worth a listen.

six and mel: 'the one doctor' is amazing. a lot of the other ones are terrible... although i have a fondness for 'thicker than water', but more for evelyn than mel.

Thanks for the recs, I will check those out! Kingmaker seems to be getting a lot of love, so I'm definitely going to add it to my list. And Son of the Dragon was on sale this past weekend, so I snapped it up.
