End of Summer

Today is the last day of summer. Tomorrow is the first day of fall.
However, I usually consider Labor Day the end of summer.

The funny thing is, the summer seemed to pass by too quickly, while at the same time the spring and my graduation feels like ages ago.

There were lots of things I wanted to do and planned to do this summer... and never got done. I almost felt like I wasted the summer not doing things, not being productive, not getting things done. Usually they were easy things that would be easy and quick to do if I actually sat down and did them.

But I have this almost religious drive to be lazy and procrastinate. I do the things that bring immediate joy, and things that seem difficult or require work I put off... until the problem looms too big to ignore or until I cannot ignore it lest I end up screwed. I would be a good politician, me thinks.

A list of things I remember wanting to do, since I lost the list and forgot half this shit:

Buy a digital camera.
My grandfather promised me, LAST CHRISTMAS, to get me a camera. I think part of the problem was the price limit he gave me, up to $100 dollars. And the nice cameras I wanted with good long optical zoom and extra features that allow me to take panoramics and night shots and action shots are often OVER $100. So I've had to be a bit picky. I've found some I like, but I've been so indecisive that I STILL haven't chosen a camera, and it's almost NEXT christmas. Hopefully I'll be done with this task... soon.....

Edit old homework.
I wanted to clean up all the websites I had to do for school and show them off, and I finally finished that.... two months after classes ended. You can see the results here and here.
I've been wanting to finish some of the programs I did for the programming class, especially the online checkers games that's about 2/3rds finished, but that will probably never happen.

Clean Apartment.
I'd clean a little, and then it would get messy again. I'd clean a little again, and then it would get messy again.
At the beginning of September, the landlord was steam cleaning other apartments and I asked if he would steam some stains and the well-traveled parts of my carpet, and that gave me incentive to clean some, and then I got into one of those determined cleaning modes and I cleaned about 1/3rd of my apartment in a couple days. However, the piles of papers and newspapers from work still taunt me, and being the tiny apartment it is I have no idea where to put them.

Find a new job, decide on a 4-year college to go to.
I haven't even bothered to do either at all. Someone put a boot up my ass.
I think the problem is I'm not sure if I should go full time to school, work full time, or try to go to school and work at the same time. If I go to school I'd rather go full time and not work.

Get a new pair of glasses.
My old pair is over 5 years old. I just have no idea what kind I should get. I need a flamboyant gay guy with good fashion sense to come with me. :P

Edit photos, clean out hard drives.
I've had icons I've been wanting to finish, art files I want to wrap up, photos from digital cameras I've wanted to edit to a reasonable size, and some parts of my hard drives I've wanted to clean and organize for months. I haven't even touched those yet.

Plan, start model railroad module.
Part of this is me looking up plans for track layouts that can fit on 1x2', 2x4', and 2x6' modules. There's a website with hundreds of tiny layout ideas, some as big as 1x1' (the guy who runs it passed away this year but his fans keep it going), but it's a huge site and would take time for me to go through it all. I should be at least buying train cars and track and buildings, but I haven't done that either.

Launch rockets.
I haven't shot off my model rockets at any events for years... and I just got a new rocket for free from a fellow rocket fan who's also a fur and lives nearby. Besides building that one, I have to paint my giant 3 foot tall one, which I launched once unpainted. And it's getting cold now.

Bike.
I have barely rode my bike at all this year, something I used to love doing when I was younger. I rode my bike today to get around just because it was nice, only to find out this is some kind of "alternative transportation day" where they encourage you to not drive. Nice timing. There's also a path that goes across two ajacent cities here through parks that I've wanted to do, and have yet to do it.

Geocache.
I've been wanting to do this as well but need a GPS. I thought I saw good Garmin E-trex units for only $20, but I think that was during the winter because now the cheapest is like $70-80. And if I haven't bought a camera yet, when do you think I'll actually get around to getting a GPS (at least I know exactly what unit I want).

Watch anime.
I have a trial paid Crunchyroll account that expires in October. Crunchyroll is a site that streams high-def episodes of current anime. I've only watched about half of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt.

Other stuff.
I probably forgot something.
Yep, that's my list and most of it is shit I have yet to get done.

sucks, summer, stuff, lack of motivation, things to do, procrastination
