Okay, now that THAT's out of the way...
Have we forgotten?
If the massive amout of media coverage and everybody shamelessly milking this fucking thing for every penny they can get out of it is any indication, then NO, we haven't forgotten. We've just forgotten how to be sensitive and not milk a tragedy for ratings. :P
Has anything changed?
Let's see. We're stuck in two pointless wars. Wars that were completely unnecessary, as we've pretty much dismantled half of Al-Queda using drone strikes and CIA work, and 10 years later got Osama with the work of spies and special troops. Yet in their memoirs, Bush Dubya Jr and Darth Cheney crone about how the wars were necessary, and Cheney even gloats about how he was right and everyone else is wrong.
Security at airports is horribly intrusive, where you're either molested and raped or hit with a ton of radiation so techs can oogle your naked body. Plus flying sucks ass because it's now too fucking expensive and they treat you like shit while they cram you into a tiny aluminum tube like cattle.
We've also had our rights treaded on left and right by patriot acts and the like.
And while the chances of another attack are dimished somewhat, mostly by homeland security and diligent work by spy agencies (who also disturbingly tortured suspects to get info), half the Middle East still hates us.
The memorials are still not done yet, either. Although what they have planned looks pretty decent.
And uh... well, I lost my train of thought.
Anyway, still stuck in two rediculous wars where nothing good is happening, being molested in airports, our nation is only somewhat safer, and half the middle east still hates us mostly because of our foreign policy.
I think that's it. So... here's to 10 more years of a completely disfunctional country/planet.
