"Zoe, boss, pal, incredibly pregnant woman with good aim," Hades said, sweeping into the room without knocking. "It's been too long. Nice rant there yesterday. Wanna bet they got all indignant? Not that I care," he added, examining a random object on her desk, "but you know, it's hard to break out of the business. I like deaths to be on a schedule. If I wanted to be an on-call kind of guy, I'd be the god of, I don't know, medicine or internet role-playing games."

"I bet more than a few of them got indignant at the idea of us interfering with their precious heroism," she said, rolling her eyes. "I'm glad you enjoyed the rant. Sometimes, the PA system must be abused for personal use."

"Really?" he grinned. "I'm holding you to that. So I see the little sprog is making itself known," he waved a hand at her stomach. "When do you do the maternity leave thing?" He'd seen a show about pregnancy. That was pretty much all he'd ever wanted to know about it and then some.

"I'm due at the end of July, so if everything goes the way it should, the school will be all yours then."

Yes, saying that gave Zoe just a wee bit of a foreboding feeling.

Dean was happy to find Zoe's door open as that meant he didn't have to juggle the basket he was carrying and knocking.

He ducked his head around the doorjamb. "Is it okay to come in?"

Zoe glanced up and smirked when she saw Dean. "You're safe, don't worry," she said.

Dean shot her a quick grin and came in, setting the basket down on her desk. It was full of fresh apple pastries he'd handwavily picked up before heading here.

"Conside this an apology for worrying you?"

"You didn't have to do this," Zoe said. "Not that I don't appreciate the effort," she added, pulling the basket towards her. "But still. Did you have a chance to tell me what was going on, and chose to not do it?"

Perhaps he was taking his life in his hands but he'd heard the rant the previous day and well, doctory instincts were just buggers to completely squash.

Thus as he was wandering about, Wilson found himself up by Zoe's door, knocking politely on the frame.

"Hi there," Zoe said as she glanced up. Since Wilson wasn't a student, he was free from Zoe's recent wrath, so he got a bit of a smile out of her. "What brings you by?"

Stepping into the office, he leaned his shoulder against the doorframe and smiled back.

"I lay full claim to doctory busybodiness," he admitted without shame, the smile growing.

"I know I'm not your doctor doctor but I just wanted to check in and see how you were feeling." In the wake of swatting stubborn students over the head with a clue.

"You're a doctor. That counts for something," Zoe replied. "And I'm feeling all right. I'm well on my way to being completely ready to not be pregnant anymore, that's for sure."

Drawn by something she didn't quite understand, Inara had decided to drop by Principal Washburn's office. She was carrying a full teapot and had two mugs in her bag.

There was something about seeing Inara in the doorway that made Zoe feel better almost immediately. "Hi," she greeted her.

"Hello," Inara smiled back, "I hope you don't mind the interruption, but I thought you might like some tea. It has been known to be very soothing to expectant mothers." She paused, then added, "After your announcement yesterday, it sounded like you might need it."

"I don't think I can really turn down something soothing," Zoe replied. "That's very kind of you."
