I'm crying, but in the best way possible (actually crying and smiling, which I was doing anyway but this, this adds to it) *love*

I just couldn't help myself. I know I earlier sent you portions of this to be used in an Evan Wright article but I was struck by inspiration today and just had to write this. I hope you don't mind.

This is lovely. I hope that something like this will happen in my lifetime -- a proud, out, and gay candidate for president.

Or hell, the real, straight Nate Fick would do, too!

I've noticed something -- in all the incarnations of this fandom, Nate Fick has taken a bullet 4 times now, and Brad Colbert not at all. We are all sadistic women in GK.

Oh, that really would be something else, wouldn't it? Fingers are crossed. We've already witnessed one major historical political event in our lifetimes, who's to say we won't see another? Never say never.

Or hell, the real, straight Nate Fick would do, too!
OH HELL YEAH. I started campaigning for him after reading some of his articles this past autumn, even if it's in a totally unofficial capacity.

Oh great good God, you're right! Wow. We really are evil, aren't we? Bunch of sadists, hurting the one we love the most...

I continue to be impressed by Capt. Fick (I have to refer to him as Capt. Fick to keep him separate from the Nate in my head, who I made do dirty and porny things!). He is just so well=spoken and charismatic. I reread One Bullet Away at least once a week, it's embarrassing. I very much hope that he chooses to run for office. I would vote for him without a doubt.

I think the problem is that Stark Sands is such pretty, wide eyed vulnerability. It makes us want to see Brad take care of him... what better way to have Brad take care of him than to hurt him in the first place? =)

Capt. Fick is one of the most inspiration figures I've ever encountered in modern military history. (by the way, I totally agree with adding the rank to separate the man from the fandom creation/my own AU version) The only other man that I hold in such high regard is the 101st Airborne's Major Richard Winters - and that's some damn good company to hold. Every time I read "One Bullet Away" I feel moved and motivated to be a better person, cheesy as that may sound. I look forward to the day when he inevitably runs for public office so I can fall in line behind him and support that amazing, intelligent, and well-spoken young man every step of the way.

And yeah, Stark's prettiness is just too damn distracting. I mean, those eyes and that mouth? It's brain-melting, really. In fact, I don't even remember what my next statement was going to be because I got side-tracked thinking of the lovely Mr. Sands...

Aw, this is lovely. Love this line 'And it is this idealism that blazes through now, that sets the young politician aglow with the sort of rapture more commonly seen in saints and preachers.
