A Bar Outside LA, Friday Evening

Apr 16, 2010 18:59

Sean and Savannah had snagged a portal to LA and rented a car from there. (Well, more like grabbed a car from the Cabal offices' motor pool, but pfft. Details, details.) Actually getting to the little dive bar that was their destination took maybe ten, fifteen minutes ( Read more... )

Yes, pity about that awesome allowance in Fandom, wasn't it? However, it was fine with her right now as she wasn't interested in alcohol.

That would probably change shortly.

"No, I am so not telling them about this trip," she agreed. Though, it was a toss-up who would react worse-- Johnny or Paige? She took a drink from her soda. "You never told me that you had friends that were musicians. That's so cool."

"He's not a friend, exactly."

Hey, it was even true.

Sure enough, a couple minutes later, someone was taking the stage.

Savannah gave him a confused look. "If he's not a friend, then why are we here?"

She could have sworn he had said he knew this guy and that's why they were coming.

Bryce took the stage a few moments later, guitar in hand. He got settled on the barstool that'd been set out for him and took a moment to survey the crowd before beginning to play.

Savannah was pretty sure that the reactions from Bryce were because of surprise and not because of any concern he had for her.

And wow, that still hurt.

She let out a breath. "Okay, first, Johnny doesn't care if I continue on with my schooling or not. He just wants me to be happy and living with him -- which I will be. He's excited for me that I got into art school, but he's not going to be pissed at you if I put it off." She didn't think. "Mom might rant and rave, but she knows that what I do, I do for good reasons."

"... have you not met your mother? She'd rip my head off!"

No, not really. She'd just smack him around a little.

Bryce was trying to process the whole Savannah being married thing. "Okay, wait, back up here," he said, belting down the rest of his drink. "You're married? When the hell did that happen?"

"Be nice, Bryce," Sean said, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Or else I'm beating you with your goddamn guitar."

"Oh no you're not, I have to get back up there in five minutes," Bryce said. To Savannah, he said, "Okay, tell me it's a recent development and that you haven't been married since you were like fourteen or something."

"Like they would've let that happen, you idiot."

"Bite me."

"You will not beat him with his guitar," Savannah said hotly, probably surviving them all with her defense of Bryce ( ... )

"And I suppose nobody pointed out to Benicio that the age of consent is different in different places in the world." Bryce rolled his eyes. "And it's entirely possible that depending on where you were married and what state you live in now, you were legal and it was perfectly valid."

What? Poli-sci major going into law school here.
