I actually watched the ice dancing last night and really loved so many teams, and I'll be watching the finals tonight. It's my favorite of the figure skating competitions, I think, probably because it's got all three incredibly difficult elements - grace, athleticism and teamwork - combined, and the more you have to do, the more amazing I find it when everything goes right.
Ice dance was a great palate cleanser after the men's splatfest! I couldn't agree more!
Now it's time to get ready for Wednesday. I hope the women have better outcomes than the men. I'd love to see an exciting competition with quality performances.

Oh my! Yes, it was!
Tessa and Scott were divine. I do have a issue with the SD scoring, but that's neither here nor there when Tessa and Scott skated the best they have all this year and seem so happy with their performances.
Andrew and Kaitlyn were so lovely as well. We are blessed in Canada with fine ice dance teams.
I do worry a bit that all the recent wins by Charlie and Meryl may indicate the judges want to move away from dancing on ice back to theatrical presentations. Maybe I'm a little insane at the moment. lol It was a breath of fresh air when the North American ice dance teams began to receive better marks and recognition for wonderful programs that were not over-wrought or dramatic. Tessa and Scott took that to another level.
I thought B/S SD was horrible and their FD not much better.
You are a wonderful skating fan. I have loved skating for many years, but my bias for Canadian skaters shows.
Yeah, I definitely thought Tessa and Scott were underscored in the short dance. But I guess because I accepted quite a while ago that they wouldn't win gold, I'm feeling pretty zen about it. They went out on a great note, and that's what I wanted most for them.
We are definitely blessed with a wealth of ice dance talent in Canada!
I have an appreciation for skaters from all over, but I do love my home teams of course. :)
Yeah, I'm gonna be that person...I don't like Meryl and Charlie and didn't really want to see them win. Objectively I can agree they are good skaters, top of their disciple, seventeen years together, blah blah blah. But they always look like they're working at it...I don't know, it just doesn't feel like they go together, but that just might be because I hate Charlies's stupid hair and think Meryl has a pinched face. Tessa and Scott are, to me, exactly as Kurt Browning described them, "subtle perfection". They never seem to be working at it, it all seems so natural. And this time, like in 2010, to me they're the only partners who truly feel like they're dancing. They remind me of Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse.
Ah well. I can comfort myself with the knowledge that 2010 was a perfect moment. And of course, a silver medal at the Olympics is nothing to sneeze at.
Hee! I personally love Charlie and his stupid hair (the one season he cut it, he just wasn't the same, LOL). Meryl I'm not as keen on as she tends to seem snotty (and her voice is so annoying!), but I do think they earned their gold. Tessa and Scott will always be number one for me, though.
2010 was totally perfect, and I feel like they won silver here and didn't lose gold (as Tessa said today). But I understand where you're coming from!
Nothing to do with ice dance (I haven't watched yet, although I obviously know the results) but this is hilarious if you haven't seen it; Michael Buckley totally harps on Plushy and then talks about Jeremy Abbott:
