Can't stop thinking about Cory Monteith. I can't believe he's dead. So sad for his family and friends, and for Lea. I've always had a soft spot for her despite her divaness, and I can only imagine how utterly devastated she is. How is she going to go back to work and play Rachel without him? I really don't know what the show is going to do. (But ( Read more... )

I agree. I woke up early (obviously checking Twitter/Facebook) and it was the first comment I saw. I was shocked. I knew he was struggling, but he always seemed so positive. Apparently he was with a group of people in his room earlier in the day, but then came back alone that night ( ... )

Yes, he and Lea were still together. I can't imagine how she feels right now. And that tweet from the piano player is heartbreaking. :((

I do think they have to kill Finn on the show, but that's going to be really painful for everyone to act, especially Lea. Maybe cathartic? We shall see.

Sorry you had to break it to your daughter. So sad!

There have been reports this morning that they were to be married in 2 weeks. Not sure how true they are but I am so sad for her.

I was never a fan of his singing (understatement), and didn't really like Finn much. But always liked Cory himself, and heard so many good things about how sweet and friendly he was.

+1

I can't help but think of what they're going to do with the show either. I think they should delay the next season (since it should have been starting in September) but I'm really not sure if Lea will be willing and/or able to return. How could she just go back to playing Rachel when Finchel were such a big part of her and Cory's lives ( ... )

I really can't imagine. It's going to be difficult enough to deal with this tragic loss, but to have to go back to a job that is so intrinsically linked to him seems as if it would be overwhelming. I think they're going to have to delay production at the very least.

Finn's death would literally affect every single character in the show so much. It could be very powerful television, but it also wouldn't be Glee. I'm just not sure how they're going to handle it, but whatever they do, they need to take their time. Let all the cast and crew (especially Lea) grieve, and write a story that will honour Cory and provide comfort for his fans. Glee so often rushes their writing so it's inconsistent, but what they do here matters so much.*nods* He truly was a central, core character. It is really going to change the show irrevocably, I think, and I don't see how they could ignore it and just write Finn off. That wouldn't work ( ... )

I definitely know I feel stronger about this death because I've literally this week completed a fairly intense substance misuse course. I obviously don't know how Cory was feeling, or how Lea is feeling now, but it gave me some insight into how complex and heartbreaking the situation is, and I just wish all those who knew Cory or were a fan of his could be spared this pain.

I'm reading this TV tropes page to get an insight into how some other shows have handled situations like this. I stopped watching Glee mid-season 3, but I really do care about them getting this right. Especially with the show having a young fanbase, for whom this may be the first celebrity death to truly affect them.

Agree. :((

The show really does need to get it right. It's going to be a challenge considering how tonally uneven this show already is.

Such sad news! I didn't even know that he and Lea were a couple in real life until this morning. So young! :(

And all of this on the heels of the announcement that Adam Lambert's joining the cast this fall. I think he was going to be part of the Broadway/NYC/Funny Girl storyline, along with Chris and Lea. Obviously way too early to even speculate about how this will affect things.

So, so sad. Yes, I'd heard about Adam Lambert, which I thought was great news. The whole course of the show is going to be really affected.

I was so shocked when I heard the news. I stopped watching Glee in the middle of last season, and I didn't even know Cory had been in rehab. I always loved Finn, though, even if Cory wasn't the best singer. And Cory seemed like such a sweet guy. I can't imagine what the cast, especially Lea, is going to do. So tragic.

I really can't imagine either. As you said above, how is Lea going to play Rachel losing Finn without having a nervous breakdown? But the alternative of just writing Finn off and having the characters go on merrily without him is unthinkable. This is such a blow to the entire show and everyone involved. Especially Lea of course. Poor thing. :((
